Our collection activities are a comprehensive effort that combines the collection of hard-to-recover marine debris by utilizing small collection devices at sea and in rivers with collection by small beach cleanups. Our collection activities include oceanographic surveys using low-cost, low-environmental-impact equipment, and we promote recycling of collected trash through material-conscious sorting activities. Together with local communities, we aim to realize a recycling-oriented society while protecting the marine environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Marine Debris Collection System for Rivers uses the current of the river to collect plastic waste and other debris flowing from upstream, preventing it from being discharged into the ocean. The simple structure using fishing gears realizes low cost, and the system is scalable from small rivers with a width of 10 m to medium-sized rivers with a width of 100 m or more. In addition, by collecting the litter within the river area, the source of the litter can be clarified, which is useful in preventing recurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
